KAMRA Inlay

Understanding The Need For Reading Glasses

Let’s face it. Nothing makes us look older than putting on a pair of reading glasses. They immediately let everyone know that we’re in our 40s, 50s or 60s. And until now, this unfortunate mid-life circumstance called PRESBYOPIA was something we were all going to eventually face.

But thanks to a recent approval by the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) of an innovative presbyopia correcting corneal inlay called KAMRA, the dream of looking younger and seeing better – without reading glasses – has come to fruition. Now, thousands of middle age men and women can discover freedom from reading glasses.

Introducing The Next Generation In Near Vision – The KAMRA Corneal Inlay

This inlay is an ultra-thin bio-compatible 3.8 mm opaque ring that is placed into the cornea of your non-dominant eye to reverse the effects of presbyopia and restore near and intermediate vision without affecting the quality of your distance vision or affecting your appearance. This tiny device utilizes the principle of small aperture optics – or pinhole effect – to extend depth of focus for patients suffering from presbyopia.

There are 4 main reasons why Schneider LASIK Centers feels the KAMRA Inlay is a safe and viable option for the correction of near vision:

  1. The KAMRA inlay corrects vision at both intermediate and near.
  2. The KAMRA inlay does not have an adverse effect on uncorrected distance vision.
  3. The KAMRA inlay does not require modification as years pass allowing for the uninterrupted correction of near vision for years to come.
  4. The KAMRA inlay is completely reversible.

The KAMRA inlay is implanted in the cornea (the transparent focusing lens in the front of the eye) in a tiny pocket created by a femtosecond laser. The Femtosecond laser is the same proven FDA-approved laser commonly used in the popular LASIK procedure. The design and precise placement of the inlay allows for only focused rays of light to enter the pupil, thus creating a greatly enhanced depth of focus.
