LASIK

Schneider LASIK Centers offers IntraLase® LASIK to residents of Corona, Riverside, the Inland Empire, and Orange County.

Our LASIK Is NASA-Endorsed & US Military-Approved

LASIK is a popular laser vision correction procedure that is actually an acronym:  Laser-Assisted In situ Keratomileusis. Our advanced method of Custom iLASIK was the first laser procedure approved for both NASA’s astronauts and the elite forces of our U.S. Military. LASIK is currently FDA-approved for the correction nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism.

LASIK Before & After

Safer, Blade-Free iLASIK at Schneider LASIK Centers

Dr. Schneider and Schneider LASIK Centers offers an all-laser method of iLASIK called IntraLase®. The major difference between our all-laser method of LASIK and traditional LASIK is the use of a computer-controlled Femtosecond laser to create a protective flap…vs. a blade guided by the surgeon’s hand. Because traditional LASIK uses a blade guided by the surgeon, it is limited in its flexibility and is subject to complications or human error. Our all-laser, blade-free method of iLASIK is the safest, most advanced method of laser vision correction available today.

Named a ‘better type of LASIK’ by doctors worldwide, IntraLase® reduces the risk of complications actually gives patients a higher quality of vision. Patients treated with IntraLase® require far fewer secondary procedures to correct vision or resolve side effects. IntraLase® was approved by the FDA in 2000 and since 2001 has been used on over 50,000 patients.

Mark Schneider, MD received the Pioneer Award in 2003 “In recognition of your pioneering efforts in the bringing femtosecond laser technology to the field of corneal refractive surgery and in appreciation of your continued support and commitment to this new standard of care.”

If you are between 18-55 years of age and your eye doctor has diagnosed you with nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism – and you are currently wearing glasses and contact lenses – that is a 90% probability that you are an ideal candidate for LASIK. Surveys of LASIK find rates of patient satisfaction between 92 and 98 percent. Ideal patients are at least 18 years old, have generally healthy eyes free from diseases, scars, or infections, and are willing and able to stop wearing contacts for two to four weeks before your LASIK consultation. This is because contact lens reshape your cornea and can cause ocular surface disease and corneal drying.

To help you relax during surgery and ensure your comfort & safety, Dr. Schneider will administer special medication and numbing drops before he begins your procedure. The actual treatment time takes less than 60 seconds and patients remain awake and comfortable during the entire process. You will be in our laser suite for 20-30 minutes and most patients report little if any discomfort.

Your eyes may be dry following your LASIK procedure, so Dr. Schneider will give you prescription eye drops to enhance your visual recovery process, make your eyes more comfortable and help maximize your visual acuity. Your vision may be blurry for 24 hours, and most patients experience improved vision within a few days of surgery. You will return to Dr. Schneider for a follow-up visit within 24 to 48 hours of your procedure and be scheduled for a series of follow-up visits during the next six months.

Post LASIK Visual Recovery

You should plan to have someone drive you home after your LASIK procedure. Dr. Schneider recommends you go home and take a 4 to 5 hour nap. When you wake up, you will have “functional vision,” which will enable you to navigate the house and see the television. The next day, most patients are able to drive a car. You will reach 100% of your vision within the next few months while your eyes are healing.

Potential Side Effects & Complications

Although rare, some patients experience discomfort in the first 24 to 48 hours after LASIK. As with any surgical procedure, there are inherent risks and possible complications that can occur with LASIK. Some of these include under or over-correction, sensation of dry eyes following treatment, glare & halos around images at night, fluctuating vision and difficulty driving at night.

IntraLase® Procedure

Schneider LASIK Centers offers the IntraLase® procedure to residents of Corona, Riverside, the Inland Empire, and Orange County.

At Schneider LASIK Centers, we are pleased to offer our patients in the Inland Empire community the safest, most advanced method of LASIK available today. Our “next generation” LASIK procedure is called IntraLase®, a blade-free, all-laser method of LASIK that represents one of the most exciting breakthroughs in refractive surgery history!

Differences in the IntraLase® Procedure

With the IntraLase® method, no mechanical incisions are required, so it is less invasive than conventional LASIK and offers patients unprecedented safety and precision.

The IntraLase® method gives Dr. Mark Schneider more control and accuracy to customize the procedure to each patient’s specific needs. The IntraLase® method also provides fewer risks and possible flap complications.

Benefits of the IntraLase® Procedure

The IntraLase® method of LASIK takes an all-laser approach to creating the corneal flap, rather than using a surgical blade called a microkeratome. By using this painless approach, it enables the refractive team at Schneider LASIK to safely create a flap of exact shape and thickness which results in faster healing and a better quality of vision for our laser vision correction patients.

Although traditional LASIK is an extremely safe and effective procedure, LASIK with IntraLase® by Dr. Schneider offers patients in Orange County, Corona, Riverside, and the entire Inland Empire area a new sense of assurance and peace of mind through added safety and increased precision in a less invasive manner. Feel free to ask a member of our staff for more information about our blade-free, all-laser LASIK procedure.

This combination of experience and reputation, technology, safety, and integrity is the Schneider LASIK Centers difference.
